We raise funds for musculoskeletal research to end painful bone and joint problems

Joint Action funds research into musculoskeletal disorders (bone and joint problems).  Believe it or not musculoskeletal disorders are the most common cause of illness in the UK (for example we and both our families have been affected).

2.5% of babies that are born each year will have problems with their musculoskeletal system such as club foot, dislocated hips, cerebral palsy, brittle bone disease and muscular dystrophy.

Each year over 12,000 children and teenagers become ill with a bone cancer or juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Adults are regularly injured in sports and road traffic accidents which often require emergency surgery.  By 2020 injury caused by road traffic accidents will be the third highest cause of disabling conditions in this country.

Older people can suffer from osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.  Every three minutes someone will have a bone fracture due to osteoporosis, which can lead to a loss of independence; and 40% of people over the age of seventy have arthritis of the knee.

As you can see you will be lucky if you or a member of your family are not affected by a musculoskeletal disorder.  Joint action funds research to improve the treatment of musculoskeletal problems to help us now, and to help future generations.
