Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In February 2015 I finally decided to visit my doctor for a NHS Health Check...one of those you get 'offered' when approaching a certain milestone birthday. Suffice to say the results weren't particularly good...actually, that's an understatement - they were appalling!! (As is evident by the pic below)

The choices were clear...do something about it or suffer the consequences - so I chose a programme of Weight Watchers meetings and began my journey, tipping the scales at 23 stone.

In March 2016 my 48 week programme was concluded...with my weight now sizeably reduced to a slimline 14.5 stone (not to mention a whole new wardrobe of clothes!). In addition I had taken up jogging at the end of 2015 in order to increase the amount of exercise I did and to help with maintaining my weight loss.

As a Director of the Black Country foodbank, it is a real privilege to see the amazing work they do in reaching out to some of the most disadvantaged and disenfranchised people in our local communities, but they need money as well as food donations in order to continue this great work.

So, with my 50th birthday approaching in October 2016, I decided to combine my new-found weight-loss and improved fitness levels by offering to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in support of Black Country foodbank.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story (even if you're not able to make a donation) - the fact that you've read this and I've been able to tell you about the foodbank means a lot to me...and if you have been able to donate - Thank You indeed! :-)
