Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I started my swim in March, 2015, following my 65th birthday. I intended to swim 65 lengths of a 25 metre pool in one go, each week (1 mile is 64 lengths). I had missed a few sessions for various reasons, so found myself swimming 2 miles a week to catch up. It was during this time, recently, that it dawned on me that, if I maintained 2 miles a week for a few months, that I could reach 65 miles. It also occurred to me that I should use this huge effort to do some good. I'm not at athlete, attending a swimming club for a while 55 years ago. So knees and hips willing, I'll continue with my swim. I usually swim at the local leisure centre but had to swim in the open air pool, in the rain, when we were staying in Derbyshire. You see, I am determined. I have a daughter, 3 step-children and 7 grandchildren. I also run Feathers Healing and Awareness Centre with my husband, John.
My daughter, Cary-Ann is in the latter stages of Multiple Sclerosis and requires 24 hour care. She is in a wheelchair, is reliant on others for personal care and feeding. She is double incontinent and blind. However, her spirit and sense of humour are great. I take her to the Chilterns MS Centre for physio and this is a highlight of her life. If there are earth angels, I think they work at this centre.
