Story
Hi folks,
This August I'm going to be volunteering at a week-long holiday camp for disabled kids.
The camp is one of six that the Newman Holiday Trust runs every year, in different locations around the UK, providing holidays for kids with special needs, of the ages 5-16.
Like the other volunteers, I'll be looking after one of these kids.
It's the first time I've done this kind of thing, and I'm excited. Nervous, too, but excited. Which I think is very much how the kids will be feeling, too. I'm expecting to come back still excited, but without the nerves. And I hope the same will go for the kids.
In the meantime, I'm raising money for the trust to help finance the holidays, which the kids wouldn't otherwise get due to family circumstances or the level of care required.
Can you chip in? I'll report back, but I'm expecting to come back bursting with enthusiasm about the camp and what it means for the kids. I'm also expecting to be exhausted, but heck, for good reason!
Thanks in advance for your help,
