Story
The Cassie Appeal
Cassie is one of hundreds of pets waiting for new families at Wood
Green’s Heydon Centre in North Hertfordshire. Every year, the Centre takes in over 1,000 animals that have nowhere else to go, including cats and kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens. We are launching The Cassie Appeal to raise £10,000 for two projects at Heydon that will help us give these animals the best possible care and find them loving homes.
Healthy and happy cats
Cassie was brought into Wood Green because her owner had to go into a care home. Like an increasing number of cats that come into our Centres, Cassie is obese. We need to help her lose weight but our current accommodation has limited space in which cats can exercise. Your support will enable us to build a large run with enough room for cats to run, jump, climb, have fun and burn off calories. Allowing cats to perform these natural behaviours will make sure they are healthy and happy while they wait for their new families.
Renovating and updating Heydon’s
surgery
Sadly, many of the animals that pass through our doors have been through hard times and are in need of medical attention to get them back on their paws and ready for rehoming. Others need routine treatments, such as vaccinations to keep them save from dangerous diseases. In total, approximately 80% of our animals need to visit the surgery. The Team work to incredibly high standards but our facilities are in desperate need of updating. With your help, we can make essential improvements and provide exceptional care for these animals in need.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support, which will make an enormous difference to homeless pets.

If we are lucky enough to exceed our target, any additional funds will be spent on the care of animals at our Heydon Centre, Wood Green, The Animals Charity.
