Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

In 2010 I 'crashed' with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).  In 2011, after eventual diagnosis, I found the Optimum Health Clinic.  I attended their 90 Day Programme for recovery, then trained as a practitioner, initially to consolidate my recovery, then to qualify as a therapist myself.

I am now completely recovered.  I work part of my time as a music teacher, and the rest of my working life is devoted to my therapeutic work, particularly in helping the overweight achieve sustainable weight loss.

My husband, Andy, and I have 2 grown up children.  Many of our family holidays have been spent in Cumbria, where most of the time he would take the kids out onto the mountains whilst I was content to mind our rather more sedentary dogs.  Next year we reach significant birthdays - 60 for me and 70 for Andy.  We are neither of us party people particularly, so have decided to celebrate by doing these walks.  This time I shall not be a passive by-stander!

The 7 walks we have chosen to do will encompass Great Gable, Helvellyn, Skiddaw and Scafell Pike; the other 3 walks are classic Lakeland 'horseshoes' - Fairfield, Newlands and Coledale.  62+ miles and over 19,000 feet of ascent (2/3 the height of Everest).

I am now in training!  Last year I lost 5 stone in weight, and intend to lose a bit more to climb these Fells comfortably.  Power walking, strength work, and Pilates will make up the majority of this, along with the daily dog walks and walks in the hills whenever possible.

I have put £2,500 as an initial target to raise.  In truth, I should like to raise 10 x that sum!!  If you are able to help in any way I should be so grateful :)
