Story
Between the 2 – 6 September I will be trekking across Transylvania to support Sense International and the Finding Grace Appeal. I am writing to you to ask for your support towards this important appeal.
Please see a short video of Maggie's story at https://youtu.be/zLYqKt1xyHs
Deafblind children can spend their lives in the shadows. Parents are not sure what is wrong with their child and how to communicate with them. As a result, they remain shut away from the local community and very few know of their existence. Families struggle on, unable to communicate with their own child and not knowing how to support them.
Sense International is a leading global charity supporting deafblind children and adults in some of the poorest parts of the world and giving children the chance to break through the terrible isolation of deafblindness and lead valued and fulfilling lives.
This summer the Finding Grace Appeal aims to raise funds to screen 300,000 infants in Kenya and Uganda. We want to ensure that deafblind children are identified and supported for the very first time.
Between 10th June — 10th September the UK government will match donations to the Appeal pound-for-pound.
This means there has never been a better time to support the work of Sense International. By sponsoring me and making an individual donation to the Trek, your donation will be doubled and you will be helping to make a huge difference and reaching 300,000 infants in Kenya and Uganda.
How your donation will make a difference:
£25 will provide tests for five newborn babies in Uganda to identify a sight and hearing impairment
£500 will help us to set up a clinic in a maternity unit in a hospital to provide therapy to infants with little or no sight and hearing
£5,000 will help us buy equipment to enable a hospital to screen babies for sight and hearing problems
But I will be grateful for any amount you donate
So please help support this worthwhile appeal and help build a future for more infants in Kenya and Uganda.
