Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 8th march 2012 i got diagnosed with breast cancer. As you can imagine hearing the doctor say those words "im sorry but you have cancer" is anyones worst nightmare. You automatically start asking a lot of questions but some of them the doctors cannot answer straight away. Being a single mum of two young children and thinking at the time you are not going to be able to see your kids grow up is any mothers worst nightmare. The doctor arranged for me to have a ct and bone scan on the 20th march and eventually on the 27th march i got the results that the cancer had already spread to my lymph nodes but nowhere else thankfully so it was treatable. The doctors made a plan for me to have 6 doses of chemotheraphy then a masectomy then another 5 weeks of radiotheraphy then on medication for a further 5 years then hopefully the all clear. So between now and xmas it is gonna be a very long journey with a lot of ups and downs im sure. But on the 8th march the nurse gave me a contact number for the Ayrshire cancer support in ayr and told me to give them a call as they support people in my situation. The following day i decided to call them and i can honestly say they have been terrific with me and my family. The support and services that they provide are second to none and i dont honestly do not know what i would have done without them and their continuous support. I have had my 1st dose of chemotheraphy and one of the side effects is loosing your hair. This is any womans worst nightmare and 2 weeks later yes my hair has started to fall out, so i have decided to take the plunge and rather having the distress of every day seeing myself with less and less hair have decided to do a sponsored head shave and in the process donate the money to the Ayrshire cancer support to say thank you for their continued support to me. So i ask if you have taken the time to read this please take a few more minutes of your time and give a donation. It would mean so much to me if you do and i would greatly appreciate it and also to other people in my situation also. Every penny counts to this charity and their support is so valuable. So please dont put off till tomorrow what you could do today do it today. xxx
