Story
I love a challenge and raising money for a good cause, so when my friend Karen in early January suggested we tackle the Isle of Wight challenge (106kms in 2 days) and asked if I would be up for it, I immediately knew which charity I wanted to raise money for.
Abigail' Footsteps is a small charity based in Kent started by Jo and David Ward to provide support for families who suffer the tragedy of a still birth. A large number of stillbirths seem to happen in otherwise healthy babies and the cause is often unexplained. I have a beautiful 12 year old son and I can't imagine the heart ache and pain parents suffer who experience such a tragedy. 17 babies are either stillborn or die a neonatal death every day in the UK. Abigail's Footsteps is helping hospitals to equip themselves and their staff to help parents who go through this by providing equipment for bereavement suites and bereavement training to hospital staff to support parents.
My aim is to raise enough money to enable the charity to purchase a cold cot for a bereavement suite? I would be grateful if you would help me to do this. I will be walking 66 miles for the pound, £5, £10 or £20 you donate which will spur me on when I am feeling sore and hurting as I walk round the Isle of Wight. Your donation no matter how large or small will however help people who are going through a hurt and pain that may dull with time but will last a life time.
