Story
A short time ago we were out late at night knee deep in mud and cold water searching for a missing person from the local area.
Some people have no idea that this type of service is completed by a voluntary organisation such as ours. We are tasked by Sussex Police to find vulnerable missing people all over the county. In this particular situation our teams ( Foot searching and Water search & Rescue Teams) were deployed for a number of hours to help with the search.
We would really like to get some enhanced medical kit to help us when we do find people in need and also to help us secure the needs of our own teams when they are potentially at risk of injury.
Sometimes our searches find people that did not survive the events that unfolded, but even then we know that we do our best for friends & family to enable their feelings of loss to move forward.
The type of kit that we require is expensive and ranges over more than just plasters.
For Example:
£2.50 will get us a non rebreathing Oxygen mask ( used to administer Oxygen)
£150 will get us a back pack style medical bag
£8.00 will get us an adult Bag valve Mask ( used to assist breathing when casualties cant do this for themselves)
£1,000 will help us to get a portable defibrillator ( To help somebody in Cardiac Arrest when their heart has stopped)
£40 will get us a stethoscope to asses chest sounds and help take someones blood pressure
The missing and vulnerable people of Sussex and our voluntary team members would benefit from your support.
Thank You
