Story
Swanmore Primary School has decided to support a locally run charity – St George Foundation.
The St. George Foundation runs a children’s home in Sierra Leone and provides care for homeless children and young people. These children are often orphans and the charity works hard to find relatives or foster families who will take them in and care for them.
During their time at the home they are fed, clothed and sent to school and onto further education.
Swanmore Primary School has decided to support the schooling of fourteen children – two for each year group (YR-Y6).
Unfortunately, the Ebola crisis has stopped this endeavour in its tracks !
The schools are closed and the children’s home is now focused on providing love, care and support for children orphaned by Ebola.
These children have come to St George via UNICEF, have had the disease, managed to survive and been give a medical certificate stating they are Ebola free.
The children have lost their parents and now their family’s, friends and relatives are too afraid to take them in themselves. Whilst the children recover from their terrible illness and loss the St George social workers work hard to re-home the children with family or friends and to ensure they are welcomed back into society and not left permanently stigmatised.
The charity needs an extra £1000 a month to provide this much needed care and Swanmore Primary School is planning on supporting this charity as best it can.
Please give generously.
