In 2015, Sam Underwood joined Holly in Kenya to volunteer with Raise the Roof on their ICT for development programme. RTR purchased 8 laptops and a printer and set up a small computer training programme.
The course is now a huge success and even generating a small income for the centre, supporting its sustainable model. With it's success, Raise the Roof has made the decision to expand the technology programme, thanks to hard work from Tom Read and support from Telegenic.
Tom will be joining Holly in Kenya in April to expand the computer workshop.
Tom says
" I'm really looking forward to helping Holly and Raise the Roof out. With my knowledge of computers, internet and power i really hope i can help get this exciting project off the ground, and help children and young people who would otherwise not have this opportunity."
Telegenic has currently donated 17 mini macs and partnered with Alston Elliot to donate 20 laptops.
The team need to raise an additional £5000 to cover the costs of shipping, monitors, keyboards and mice, plus having suitable desks made and expanding the workshop.
If you have any of the above kicking around and in good working condition, they'd also be more than happy to take it out to Kenya!
Many thanks
