Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I haven’t done any fundraising for a long time, but I have recently been reminded of the incredible support provided by the Cavendish Centre for people here in Sheffield who are affected by cancer. This local charity provides a range of complimentary therapies and emotional support to people with a cancer diagnosis and their families. Apart from a small donation made by the NHS, the Cavendish Centre is entirely dependent on fundraising efforts for its income. Please give generously so we can support the work they do.
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in April, after seven years of good health. Over the last few months I have taken amazing strides to improve my fitness and prepare myself mentally and physically for the road ahead. Possibly a sick joke; Rob signed me up for a sprint triathlon. He then volunteered himself, signed Ella up for for moral support and roped George in as team supporter. The target of swimming 750m, cycling 20km and running 5km has helped me take regular exercise and motivated me to keep going. I can’t believe the progress I have made. Some of you will remember four months ago I couldn’t walk up the stairs without being out of breath and a length of the pool was my limit! I believe exercise is a vital part of my treatment and having a goal like this has helped me to keep on track.
So here we are with ten days to go and I can’t quite believe I’m doing this. Having your support and encouragement means so much. Lets hope we have good weather.
We appreciate all donations made! Thank you.
Lucy, Rob, Ella and George
