Last year I worked as a teacher at TLG in Bradford, an alternative education provision for teenagers excluded from mainstream education. It was one of the toughest things I've done, yet I developed such a love and admiration for these young people and was in awe of their ability to keep going in spite of some heartbreaking situations. 

As well as teaching, I found that many of these young people just needed to know that others believed in them and that they were loved.

Running this marathon will be possibly the greatest challenge I've ever done, but it's been a dream since I was young, and remembering the TLG young people inspires me to reach for dreams, even at the risk of failure.
