We help African farmers to better feed their families

Story

We are 3 Irish guys travelling around New Zealand in a camper van, chasing the waves and seeking adventure. We are all adventure seekers by nature and each decided to come to New Zealand to experience the wealth of outdoor activities which the land offers. We were recently struck with the crazy idea of biking it around new Zealand, on a 3 person Tridem bicycle, in order to raise a significant amount of money for a worthwhile cause. We have never partaken in anything like this before, and do not know of anybody else that has either, therefore we feel that it would be an exciting opportunity to dive into the unknown and try something new and unique.

The charity that we have chosen is called gorta. Based out of Ireland, Gorta works to improve the lives of impoverished families in 10 core sub-Saharan countries. It does this by tapping into their knowledge pool of small scale farming, raising crops in a sustainable fashion, fighting for gender equality, helping to deal with climate change, linking farmers to the market, giving access to micro finance and opening communication between farmers and co-op farm providers. Our goal is to raise 5000 euro. We know that this is a huge sums of money, but each of us is completely determined to achieve this. This is our mission. We have all been lucky enough to have been raised in great families and been given incredible opportunities that some people never got. This is our chance to give those less fortune people a chance to live a better and hopefully more meaningful life. We want those people to wake up in the morning with a new lease for life, believing that today will be a better day.

What we ask of you; Our mums, dads, brothers, sisters, neighbours, friends, uncles, aunties, etc.....is to please donate what you can to an incredibly worthwhile cause. We are going to go through hell in order to raise this money and we need your support. Are you with us?

We will post pictures and updates about the event over the coming weeks. The kick off date for the cycle is roughly mid April. We hope to have our target of 5000 euros reached by then. The cycle in total is over 2100km with several daunting climbs. We will be pitching up a tent as we go as well as surviving on people's goodwill. We want you guys to join us in this campaign and spread the word to everyone that you know. The more people that are involved, the better a chance we have of making this as big a success as we can. We plan to contact radio stations, newspapers, local communities and spread the word on whatever social media platforms are available to us.

Thanks you for reading and let the adventure begin,

Stephen, Ryan & Rob
