Story
Bangladesh is the most densely populated country in the world and one of the poorest. What we often take for granted is often is a matter of life a death for millions of people. The lack of access to the most basic of health care results in some of the most appalling life expectancy levels in the world. Imagine a situation where your child, wife or loved family member is struck ill with what is a readily treatable ailment but yet due to lack of access to proper health care the likely hood of him/her surviving is low. This is a reality for thousands of some of the poorest people in the world today in Bangladesh this very moment.
Coupled with the huge socio-economic disparity between the rich and poor Bangladesh is regularly ravaged by severe flooding and cyclones which exasperates the situation. These people do not live – they merely survive on a day to day basis. Children are robbed of their youth and are forced into hard labour when they should be out playing or going to school. Families live in squalid conditions in make shift slum towns where disease is rife due to overflowing sewage and lack of sanitation.
