Story
Hi I have organised a group to run in this year's wigan 10k to raise more money for the wonderful charity Climb. My daughter was born with the rare life threatening invisible condition called salt wasting congenital adrenal hyperplasia or SWCAH. She was luckily diagnosed in the first 6 hours of life or she would not be here today.
From Paige.....
My mum along with her friends are taking part in the 2016 Wigan 10k. Those who know my mum will know this is a big challenge for her and she taken the opportunity to train with a fantastic group of people on a Wednesday night in Aspull, Wigan many who have chosen to run alongside her raising money for Climb.org.uk. The quest is to start together and finish together as one! Nobody will be left behind. It's doesn't matter if they run walk or crawl as long as there is no ambulance and they all finish ha ha ha
My friends and family have been raising money for the 3 chosen charities : Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital, Rainbow Ward @ Wigan hospital and CLIMB.org, simply to give back to those that I am lucky to recieve medical care or support from.
So far my amazing family and friends have completed and raised the following, this is not the full list
- sponsored walk; Hindley High School to Rivington Pike and back (16 miles) we had almost 100 walkers, 3 cycilists and 3 dogs took part in the walk!! raising over £4,000!! twins Ben and Brendon Hartley, aged 6 suprised everyone by completeting the full walk, little superstars!! The youngest walker being 3 and the oldest being almost 70, we were met by many well wishers on the way and were joined by a number of unexpected walkers on the morning of the walk.
-A comedy night raised over £1,000 and a chartiy single was released
-Bag packing, Wigan ASDA also raised £1,000
-Charity fun day, Dray King raised also £1,000
-Santa dash 5k raised a little under £500.
-Two Christmas Eve Santa drops were also fundraised for. Paige herself along with Santa delivered gifts to all children unfortunate to be on Rainbow ward in Wigan over Christmas and she also delivered gifts to patients on the Cancer care unit at Wigan and the ambuluance crew who have saved Paige's life on a number of occasions
The fundraising team decided to be known as Paige's Promise
Paige's Promise was set up as we believe that putting back into services is the kindest gift anybody could give. We are more than grateful for everything that we have recieved and for everything they have done to help Paige grow into the most beautiful and bubbly little girl.
THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO HAS DEDICATED THEIR TIME AND MONEY INTO HELPING RAISE MONEY, YOU ARE A HERO WITHOUT A CAPE, AND WE APPRECIATE IT.
Lots of love and well wishes,
Paige(me),Tanya(mummy), Terry(Daddy) and my big sister Jade.xxxxx
