Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In 2013 we lost a beloved colleague and friend, Mel Jaggard, to a rare form of cancer which she bravely fought for 5 years.  During her epic and inspiring fight, she met the love of her life (and now dear friend of Unilever) Charlie Jaggard and gave birth to her adorable twins, Tommy and Amelie.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Mel and her family helped raise awareness and a significant amount of money for research into Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), the specific and very rare cancer which ultimately claimed Mel's life.

Inspired by and in memory of Mel, we decided to pick up where she had left off and so it was in 2014 that 48 of us cycled from Unilever's head office in Leatherhead to Mel's home town of Gilwern in South Wales (190 miles in 2 days).  In 2015 we did it again, this time in a peloton of 78.  In 2016 Miles 4 Mel is back to keep the memory of Mel very much alive and "cycling" and to raise more vitally important money for the Get A Head charitable trust, acharity who support funding into ACC.
