This year as a team we have decided to dedicate our fundraising to a specific project for Headway West Midlands. Last year they launched a fishing group for their clients, which was a great success! Every week during the summer months they took a group of 6 – 12 clients to Alvechurch Fisheries where they enjoyed a supervised fishing session, supported by both Headway staff and the trained staff at the centre.

The feedback on this ‘Fishing for All’ project was really positive. It gave the brain injured clients and their carers an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors together in a safe, supported environment and to try something outside their comfort zone and normal routines. Headway staff witnessed clients growing in skills and confidence as the summer wore on and the clients themselves were full of enthusiasm, with more than one asking if we could offer fishing as a daily activity!

In order for Headway West Midlands to be able to run this service again, Team Virdee need to raise around £1,000 to make it possible. This will help fund the transport to and from the centre, the fishing pegs, bait and equipment hire for each visit and the fishing licences. But most of all, it will have a positive impact on the brain injured clients who participate. 

This year we are participating in the Great Midlands Fun Run 2016 once again, to start off our fundraising for this great cause. But our efforts will not stop there!! Once the run is over, we shall then move onto The Three Peaks Challenge! Please kindly help us to create awareness of brain injuries and support us in raising such a vital target for Headway West Midlands!!
