What are we doing?
On 2nd July 2016 a group of Kath's family and friends will be completing the Great Manchester Swim. A 1 mile outdoor swim around Salford Quays.
The following weekend Kath's Nephew Tom will be taking on The 3 Peaks Challenge - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours.
Why are we doing it?
In October 2014 'Super Kath' was diagnosed with a very advanced cancer. Kath was given the option of major life changing surgery. This surgery wasn't a curative option but it would hopefully prolong her life and relieve the symptoms of the cruel disease.
On 11th November the operation took place. After a gruelling full day in surgery Kath's children received a phonecall to say that not only had she come through the surgery but that the wonderful team of surgeons had managed to remove all of the cancer.
What are we doing it for?
During months of recovery in Preston Hospital Kath was cared for impeccably by the consultants and specialist nurses. Nothing was too much to ask and they were and continue to be a huge support to Kath and her family. The department has a fund that is used to improve facilities and care and make patients experience more comfortable. Kath benefitted directly from this fund so we'd like to top it up.
All donations will be hugely appreciated. We will never be able to thank these people enough but hope that by taking part in this challenge other people like Kath will benefit.
