Story
St Mungo's charity provides a bed and support to more than 2500 homeless people a night. This includes isolated people with mental health or drugs problems, current and ex-offenders, former rough sleepers now in their own homes and people who are begging or street drinking. They believe people can, and do, recover from the issues that create homelessness.
As well as supporting homeless people by providing a bed St Mungo's also run a Construction Multi-Skills hub. Clients visit the hub every day for up to two months and receive training in Painting & Decorating, Plastering, Dry lining, Kitchen Fitting and Bricklaying. Mace and St Mungo's are creating a scheme whereby job ready clients are referred to Trade Contractors at the Television Centre to enable them to get back into full time, stable work.
