Story
HELLLLLLO GUYS
Those who know me personally and maybe not personally know that 3 years ago my life was less than glamorous.
In January 2013 I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa and I plummeted to the lowest point of my life. Unfortunately I couldn't face recovery alone in the community despite the wonderful team that cared for me. After several general hospital admissions, I got faced with an ultimatum of going up to Grimsby to what was a newly opened unit as a day patient, or go inpatient at Leicester. It took me less than a second to agree to go as a day patient.
However, things don't always work out the way we hope. I got admitted as an inpatient due to very poor mental health as well as physical health. Fast forward to December 2013, I was fully discharged. But I learnt so much about myself and also how much these units rely on donations in order to keep on giving A* treatment.
I am doing this event for the Gardiner Hill Foundation because not only does it support Rharian Fields but also many other mental health services in Grimsby which are very close to my heart. As once being a service user to now working alongside it, if it wasn't for this brilliant organisation, I wouldn't be here today.
I'm not saying the past 3 years have been a walk in the park, because they haven't. However the tools I learnt have kept me going and got me where I am today and this needs to continue for the other people who access the services.
I'll be running with my best friend Dionne Ellis, my sister Katie Ellis and also my little nephew.
We all have our own stories and want to make people proud!
