Story
At Thames Reach we know from experience that a small amount of money can make an enormous difference to the lives of the homeless and vulnerable people we support. Yet frustratingly our limited resources can mean that the help people need to overcome a barrier on the way to rebuilding their lives is just not available at the time when they require it most.
We would like to give our frontline staff access to a pot of money so that they can help people at the point when they need it most so that more lives can be transformed for the better. We want them to be able to access funds quickly and easily – no length forms or demoralising bureaucracy that prevents them from seizing the moment.
These are just a few of the ways in which these funds can be spent:
· On a fresh set of clothes required after coming inside from the street
· The cost of a room in a budget hotel as a first step away from sleeping rough on the street
· The cost of an emergency detoxification before being helped home
· A fare and accommodation as part of the process of meeting up and rebuilding a damaged family relationship
· Funding of a course to increase employability
· A resettlement pack comprising food and kitchen and cleaning equipment at the point of moving into a new home.
Please don't forget to select the gift aid box if you are eligible and HMRC will give an additional 25% to your donation.
