Dogs in general have a very special place in our hearts and
have always been a huge part of our lives. Between us we currently own 5 dogs, the eldest being Gerri’s darling Gracie Grey a Staffie cross whippet. Then there is Tilly the Terrier also belonging to Gerri, Tilly is a Border Terrier cross. Summer is Gerri’s beautiful Lurcher. Pelucchi is a “Tripawd” Yorkshire Terrier owned by Zoe and Mosca also owned by Zoe is a Spanish Podenco.
The plight of the Spanish Hound has been known to us for
many years, two years ago Mosca came over from Ibizan Hound Rescue in Spain. A dream for both of us has been to travel to Spain and work with the Galgos and Podencos. This year that dream will become a reality as on Wednesday 14th September 2016 we will fly to Spain to work with the Staff at Galgos Del Sol, to see how tough the life of these Hounds is and to see first-hand how hard the Staff work to turn their lives “from street life to sweet life” for these beautiful Hounds.
We have made a pact with each other that neither of us will
bring any long legs, pointy noses or big ears home … we will be reminding each other of this pact every hour on the hour if not more frequently! We both appreciate how difficult this is going to be!
This trip is self-funded; we are both using our holiday time
to work with these hounds, Gerri will be “celebrating” her 40th
Birthday surrounded by long legs and pointy noses … so we have a request for you … to help us stay focused, to laugh with us and maybe cry with us, to travel our journey with us, to help us spread the word of the plight of these stunning hounds and the amazing work that goes on to support these beautiful dogs. Along the way we ask you to support us and help reach our target of sending £1000 to Galgos Del Sol before we go.
