Story
Am hard in training for September and spent four days in the Lake District in preparation. Friday was spent hiking up to a beautiful tarn near Grasmere. We covered 11.48 kilometres in three hours. My new boots fitted like gloves which was such a relief! We climbed Haystacks near Buttermere on Saturday - 597m and 16.83 kilometres. It took five hours and was tough especially coming down. Sunday was Langdale Peaks at 746m, 13.85 kilometres and six hours. It took two hours to get up and four hours to get down. Such difficult terrain. All the kit worked well so am feeling much more confident that I can do it. Ben Nevis is 1,300m so I did over half with Langdale Peaks and felt I could have done twice that.
Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I've signed myself up to trek up Ben Nevis (Gaelic translation 'Mountain of Heaven') the highest point in Scotland and the British Isles. Standing at a lofty height of 1,343m (roughly 4,000ft) I will be making the climb on Saturday, 24 September in aid of the Mace Foundation which works to enhance and increase the support Mace offers to disadvantaged people and the communities in which they work. The money raised from the challenge will support the Foundation's six charity partners, Coram, LandAid, The Prince's Trust, RedR Uk, Teenage Cancer Trust and WheelPower as well as those charities that are of personal significance to Mace employees.
