The Grigor McClelland Memorial Fund

To mark the life of Professor Grigor McClelland CBE, DL, who passed away on 6 November 2013, his family have asked that any donations be made through the Grigor McClelland Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation serving Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

Grigor had wide-ranging interests and expertise in business, philanthropy and education. He was also active in the Newcastle Quaker Meeting. You can read more about his life and achievements in The Guardian.

 

The Memorial Fund

The Grigor McClelland Memorial Fund will be used to support the work of the Millfield House Foundation, which Grigor founded in 1976 with shares in the family business Laws Stores Ltd. The Foundation promotes social change by funding projects that influence public policy and attitudes, with the aim of tackling poverty and inequality. For more information visit www.mhfdn.org.uk

 

Alternatively, gifts may be made by cheque payable to the Community Foundation and sent to us at Community Foundation, Cale Cross, 156 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 6SU. Please write ‘Grigor McClelland Memorial Fund’ on the reverse of the cheque and include your name and contact address.

For administrative reasons, the family and the MHF trustees request that that you make any gifts through this memorial fund, rather than to MHF directly.

 

Celebration event

A celebration of Grigor’s life will be held at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle upon Tyne from 11.30am until approximately 5.00pm on Saturday 12 April 2014. Anyone who wishes to is warmly invited to attend. However, to ensure catering and other arrangements can be managed, we ask that anyone who wishes to come confirms their attendance with Dawn Porter at the Community Foundation.
