Story
The Hall Triathlon Team was set up last year and 30 Hall mums and teachers raced to victory at the Blenheim Palace Triathlon raising a tremendous £10,000 in support of the James Allen Trust.
This year the team are back – and bigger (in numbers, not in girth:-).
And we would like your help.
We are raising money for The Winch, a community centre at the very heart of the Hall School Community, and located right around the corner from the school.
The Winch’s mission is to help each child succeed, regardless of his or her circumstances. They seek to build a long-term family relationship around every child and young person they support – from cradle to career.
We are aiming to provide the funds for an initiative called “Family Meals”.
Family Meals brings children and their families together once a week over a shared meal. Something we all take for granted but which we know is a vital part of creating a warm, loving, supportive environment for our children.
Many of the families who benefit from Family Meals are below the poverty line and are facing a range of difficulties related to this, such as unstable accommodation and unemployment, so this might be the only meal all week that is eaten together at the table.
The CEO of The Winch, Paul Perkins, said to the team - "in an affluent community, how do we make sure no child is left behind?"
If our running and cycling and swimming can go even a small way to make sure no child is left behind, then every cold swim suit and sweaty hill will have been worth it.
Our “target” is £4000 (which would provide full support for Family Meals until Christmas). Our “stretch” target is £8000 (meals for a year). And imagine if we went “all out” and raised £12,000 to support this incredible cause until Christmas 2017.
Please help us to help The Winch – and to do what we can to make sure no child is left behind.
