Story

The Kenya Project is a Medical Missions project that will run in partnership with Hope UK and Hope Kenya. The aim of the project is primarily medical. It involves medical professionals going to the Kenyan communities of Kitingela and Mukuru for a period of 5 days (19th - 23rd Feb 2014) in order to meet specific local needs with a focus on diabetes, Hypertension and Cervical Cancer screenings. There are a number of doctors and other medical professionals based in the UK and Europe who are truly passionate about using their gifts and talents to provide support in Africa.

Approximately 2454 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year in Kenya and 1676 women die from cervical cancer each year in Kenya. 44% of unwell Kenyans do not seek medical care because they are hindered by cost. This is why it is so important that the Kenya Project provides this support.

In addition to the above, The Kenya Project will also serve local needs through a teaching programme (working with young children) as well as a business skills programme to help small business owners in these local communities.

The money raised will help cover the costs for medicines and medical equipment, as well as assist with set up costs on the ground and pay for local staff who will be crucial in ensuring that we provide effective care.

Your support is truly appreciated!
