Story
The Petrie family are taking part in Links Park Community Trust 50 day 5K Challenge in aid of raising money which will be split between Links Park Community Trust and Alzheimer's Scotland.
Alzheimer's Scotland is a charity very close to our hearts. Nobody really understands how horrible Alzheimer's can be until somebody close to them is affected. For us, a few years ago Grandad Petrie was diasgnosed with the disease and we have all had to watch the dramatic changes that it brings. Once a confident, independent, self assured head of the family Grandad is now vulnerable, lost and totally reliant on others. This is such a cruel condition that affects approx. 86,000 in Scotland and we are determined to hep the charity find a cure as soon as possible.
Links Park Community Trust is a very popular charity in the family as Codie is a current football coach, while the rest o the family have been involved with the trust by either fundraising or being part of their programmes. LPCT is a local charity that launched in 2012 with one very simple goal - 'to utilise the power and widespread appeal of sport to inspire change'. LPCT delivers programmes within three areas: Health, Sport and Education with a range of activities for children through to adults and consistently co-operating with local partners in community sport, community education, community health to ensure that the programmes are aligned to meet local identified needs.
