As teenagers Stephen Mason, Raymond Danton and Wilson Hutchison were biker mad friends who all worked for a computer manufacturing company in Ayr. Life and work meant we all took different paths. After more than 20 years apart, using the power of the Internet, we recently reconnected. Six of us met for a motorcyle touring reunion in Arizona, USA. By that time Wilson was living in Zurich, Switzerland, Raymond Sydney, Australia. Stephen had spent some time in California but had now settled back in Lenzie, Scotland. Since then we have been in constant touch and have met up several more times. We have worked in the corporate world since leaving high school and are now in our fifties. The Long Way Up
2015 - Duration 4 months approx - 15 Countries
24,000 mile Pan American adventure from Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina on the southern tip of South America to Prudhoe Bay in Northern Alaska
80% Tarmac roads. Countries : Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, ,Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, USA, and Canada. Using own motorcycles - air-freighted to Buenos Aires. Accommodation will be camping, hostels and the odd nice hotel for a hot shower.
Deafblind Scotland are committed to opening doors for deafblind people and have purchased a plot of land "The Field of Dreams" in Lenzie, Scotland. They now need to raise £1.2m to create a purpose built centre to serve deafblind people across. Scotland. This centre will be designed to ensure there are no barriers, where people can make best use of any residual sight and hearing they may have. The centre will be acoustically neutral with sound and light absorbing surfaces. The centre will include an Arts facility, a multipurpose room and a studio to produce recordings (braille and moon).
