Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Anyone who has met my 6 year old daughter Tabby will know what a bright, captivating and delightful pain in the neck she is. She is also moderately to severely deaf, which means she has to wear hearing aids and needs special help at times in class and other situations to ensure she hears and "gets" as much as possible. Being deaf is an educational and social problem for her: her aids don't correct hearing in the way that glasses correct sight, they just maximise what is available to her, but that in itself causes problems for her. Even aided, in a busy social or school environment, she doesn't hear 15 words in every 50 spoken when compared to a hearing child.
We got involved in the Swindon and North Wilts DCS to help her with social interaction in both the deaf and hearing communities, and to also be able to assist parents who face the same challenges that we face, and to be able to help each other. It is tremendous fun being involved in the events that the charity arranges and to also be involved in various fund raising activities. Not that this skydive will be fun for me: my fingers are shaking merely typing this. But approaching 50 and having lost 2 stone since Christmas, this may be my only chance to do this!
I have paid for the skydive personally, and therefore every penny donated will go straight to the charity. It will help in contributing to events organised for deaf children within the area, as well as making donations for equipment to assist the professionals who do a quite fabulous job in providing support to deaf children within the community.
