Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Timperley Boneshakers JustGiving page.
Having successfully raised £76 K since 2009 for various deserving charities this year we will again raising funds for another worthy cause with a Timperley connection. This year some of our cyclists will also be completing other challenges in addition to our September 200 mile main event, hoping to raise a huge amount of money.
Sophie Needham is the niece of Andy Fardon one of our cyclist’s, and sadly she suffers with Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome. At age 6 weeks Sophie started losing weight. At 6 months she had major gastric surgery.
Age 3 years old she had her third massive operation.
When she was 5 she started school but required special care every day.
She was diagnosed with 2 serious conditions aged 12, POTs and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - either one would be hard to deal with.Over her life she has been in and out of 4 specialist hospitals in London and Manchester. She has 6 specialist consultants. She takes 12 tablets every single day.She injects herself 3 times a day. What does this add up to?
One very brave young lady who is always smiling! This year our team of 40 cyclists will be participating in a 200 mile personal challenge, pedalling from Timperley, through Cheshire and Shropshire countryside into the borders of Wales staying overnight at Shrewsbury and cycling back to Timperley the following day.
Sophie's chosen charity Ehlers-Danlos Support UK, we hoping to raise plenty of money to help make a difference for people that suffer with this condition.
