Story

Please help us support the work of Surfers Not Street Children.

2014 Christmas Appeal:

Well 2014 has been incredible. It's been a busy year of mentorship that has seen Andile, Lucky, Sihle, Mthobisi, and Vukani mentored, empowered and employed. We've seen the arrival of Sfiso to the team and seen him mentored and empowered into a apprentice woodworker/joiner position too and also the arrival, more recently of young Ntaka. Ntando has absolutely smashed this year in his quest to be a pro surfer, by representing SA at the ISA World Surfing Games in Ecuador, finishing no.2 in his age group in SA, winning the Supersport Lets Play Junior Sportsperson of the Year and KZN Surfing's Surfer of the Year. Wow. We've also developed a new bridging education programme to start in Jan 2015. Sihle flew the SNSC flag on his trip to Australia to film with Jordy Smith and O'Neill and produced an incredible edit about his life-story. We've produced a number of other edits around surfing and the phenomenon of street children and were nominated by the Department of Sports and Recreation in SA for "Recreational Body of the Year' at the SA Sports Awards. Along the way the team has been able inspire other street children through their stories.

This Christmas we would really value your support around three things:

1. To help us develop the Surfhouse where the entire team live
2. To ensure that the team is able to have some Christmas activities and invite other children to these to in order to inspire and encourage them.
3. Prepare financially for a very busy 2015 where the team will be inspiring street children in a number of other cities in Africa and beyond.

Every penny helps and we really appreciate all the partnerships that have made 2014 possible. Thanks!! Happy Christmas!!

The Surfers Not Street Children Team:

Vukani, Sihle, Andile, Lucky, Mthobisi, Ntando, Sfiso, Ntaka, Tom, Martin E and Martin B!
