Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running my first marathon in 2016 and I am aiming to raise £4,000 for Spinal Research!

As many of you will know my sister-in-law, Tara, had a horse riding accident in July 2014 which resulted in her breaking her neck, the C7 cervical vertebra, and is currently Tetraplegic. Tara spent 9 months in hospital and intensive rehab, physio, occupational therapy continues but the prognosis remains uncertain.... Tara, and my brother James, are incredible, so determined and focused that the least I can do is this, for Tara and the many other people spinal cord injuries affects every day.

In the UK and Ireland alone 50,000 people are living with a spinal cord injury.

Thirty years ago spinal cord injury was considered incurable and few people, if any, were contemplating research into repair. Today, Spinal Research is standing on the brink of clinical trials of therapies that will restore movement and feeling and transform the lives of paralysed people worldwide, improving sensation and movement, and potentially even reversing paralysis.

A spinal injury can happen to anyone at anytime in a split second - a cure must be found!

This is a massive personal challenge for me, but nothing compared to what the numerous people with spinal cord injuries face everyday and thank you so much for your generous support in raising the much needed funds for Spinal Research.
