Story
Thanks for coming here! I am raising money for the Jubilee Sailing Trust to support the operation of its two accessible tall ships - Tenacious (the largest wooden tall sailing ship in the world built during the last century) and Lord Nelson. Check out my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Sealegssteve to see what tall ship sailing JST-style is like.
Both ships are uniquely designed to allow people with various physical disabilities to be fully involved in the challenges of sailing the ships. Both are operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST), an inspirational organisation that provides life-changing opportunities to sail.
Tenacious was launched in 2000. She was built in Southampton at a cost of £14million with the help of volunteers from all walks of life as well as skilled craftsmen. Most of the build cost was raised at the time by a huge appeal. Further funds are urgently needed to pay off the remaining mortgage overhang to relieve the JST of this burden once and for all and secure its future and also to continue its mission and subsidise voyages.
In September 2014 Lord Nelson returned to the UK having completed an incredible circumnavigation of the world, spreading its mission in all continents.
As a singer and guitarist I am raising money and awareness by presenting my 'Songs of the Sea' show at community groups, rehabilitation facilities, churches, WIs, U3As, Probus, businesses, clubs - anywhere! My show comprises photos and films from my trips interspersed with live performances of songs about the sea from the likes of Rod Stewart, Queen, the Beach Boys and Bobby Darin as well as folk Songs, shanties and crooners.
I am passionate about the work this charity does, and when I have sailed with the JST I have seen at first hand the miraculous effects the experience has on people. I would really appreciate any contribution you can make. Why not sign up for a voyage yourself? It is an unforgettable experience where you really are 'all in it together'!
