Story

We need to get as far away as we can from Grosvenor Square in 24 hours with just £15. To give the other competitors a chance Gilka and I have decided we only need 12 hours so the plan is to beg/borrow/hitchhike to Ashbourne, where the Peak District starts, and also where the Peak District National Park have extremely generously lent us two mountain bikes. From here we will head as far North as we can and back in 8 hours (sadly we need to give the bikes back).

To avoid any arguments Gilka will be charge of map reading and I have the all-important job of carrying (and sampling) provisions. I am not sure there will be any records broken, given the rumours that some people have been offered flights, but with 555 square miles to contend there is plenty for us to cover and for what we lack in plane tickets we more than make up for in grit and enthusiasm.

All donations go straight to The Clink to help transform lives and reduce the rate of reoffending below the staggering 45% it is today.

The charity runs training restaurants in prisons to help reduce the rate of re-offending. This is done by enabling inmates to gain qualifications and real life experience in the hospitality industry with a view to getting them employment, mentoring and housing where required upon their release.
