Story
As in the past few editions,
the participants in the 2014 UWC Adriatic Reunion got together to extend the
UWC Adriatic community.
How? By raising funds towards a scholarship for a new student.
The result? Anisa Bek Derna from Libya, joined us here in Duino last September!
The 2014 Reunion Gift raised enough to cover her first year. The impact UWC had on her was immediate.
In her own words:
“Compared to my previous school experiences, UWC is an entire different world: not only because it is organized in a different way, but also because it has the entire world in it. During my first year I got to know many different people, places, religions and opinions. All this gave me a much wider perspective on the world and it allowed me to break down stereotypes. After just one year UWC made me an active member of its global community and I am sure that, at the end of this experience, I will have learnt much more about respect and embracing differences, making me a real citizen of the world.”

What is this year’s goal?
To complete Anisa’s second year through the 2015 Reunion Gift and, if possible, to cover the first year for a new student too.
Your Reunion is not only an occasion to see old friends but by participating in this year’s Reunion Gift, even for those who are unable to attend, you will be having a tangible and immediate impact in carrying forward the UWC legacy.
Every donation of €1,000 or more will be matched by
the Annual Fund Challenge Committee. Other matching initiatives are being put
in place – more to follow soon!
