Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Ubunye Challenge JustGiving page.
“Ubunye” is a South African Xhosa word that means “Team Spirit” or “Togetherness”.
The Ubunye Challenge's mission is to, through the medium of endurance sporting challenges, raise money to support and enable communities in some of the poorest and most underdeveloped rural areas of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The endurance challenges are being undertaken by a trained and dedicated team. Previous events include cycling across the UK in 7 days, English Channel solo swims and a 24 hour rowing marathon where 380 people form around the world joined the Ubunye as they rowed for 24hrs each. The main focus for the Ubunye Challenge now is to row across the Atlantic Ocean in January 2015 with a crew of 8 and to break the current world record which stands at 32 days.
In the meantime, Cameron is going to row across the Indian Ocean from Australia to South - a world first!
