Spring Protection
There are a number of naturally occurring water springs in some of the IcFEM LTU. However, these water sources are rarely protected and hence the water is often contaminated by the time it can be collected. IcFEM has completed a number of spring protection projects (through both the GAP programme and more recently the water programme) which protect the water source and provide a clean & safe access for the communities who use it.
The average total cost of the 15 recent spring protection projects has been £1,050 per spring, although this figure has been reduced slightly in most cases by donations (e.g. rocks or sand) from the community.
