Story
This is the third year we are running the Bristol 10k to raise funds and awareness for charity. It goes without saying that this year we are running to remember everyone's friend Paul Apps - aka 'Our Kern' who we sadly lost on Christmas Eve last year..
I, like everyone else, could not believe the awful news Kern had taken his own life. Why ? He loved life. Everybody loved him. He was the life and soul of every party. He always had a smile and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was larger than life. He was a true gentleman. If only he had been able to talk to someone about what was on his mind, maybe he would still be with us.
Everyone who knew Kern will have a story to tell about him, an adventure or holiday to remember or just a memory of a great night out. He will never be forgotten and will be in many peoples hearts forever.
It was Kern's families wish that donations at his funeral were made to The Samaritans and for that reason this is our chosen charity this year. Every day around 16 people in the UK decide to take their own life. Samaritans offer care and support to help people before it's too late.
