Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
To mark my 50th birthday, instead of giving me a present, please make a donation to Lifeline Network International (LNI), a UK registered charity working in partnership with Lifeline Nehemiah Project (LNP), an NGO operating in Sierra Leone. The funds raised will go towards supporting community members who are at high risk of contracting Ebola due to exposure to Ebola victims and need to self-quarantine; and who live within the neighbourhoods between Wellington and Kissy Police Barracks in the East of Freetown, Sierra Leone.
“Many people here in Freetown still need to go out every day to find their daily bread. Markets are still crowded and busy, as people move about and try desperately to buy, sell and scrape together a living. Meanwhile, the rations given to quarantined homes do not appear to be enough and the nutritional value is a problem. These issues must be addressed.”
LNP has worked in East Freetown since 1995 when in response to the use of child soldiers it set-up a home for ex-chid soldiers whose release it negotiated from government forces. During the conflict LNP provided shelter to many displaced people and refugees. In 1999 post the January 6 rebel invasion, in response to hundreds of displaced and community children being unable to go back to school, LNP set up a primary school which catered for over 1,000 children that year. LNP has a strong track record of delivering successful & sustainable projects in the area, which is why they have been approached by the community to provide support. LNP are well known and respected in the area, and as such would be able to work alongside community members to provide much needed support.
