Story
This is Jim, he is my Granddad, he is 92 and he took his very first selfie last Christmas (proof above). He has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and like many thousands of families we faced the prospect of losing the man we knew to a hideous and cruel disease. For a while things were tough but a salvation came in the form of Mill Street Alzheimer's Club. A simple and truly wonderful initiative that brings some continuity and fun back into my granddads life. Watching the transformation in him has been a joy and while my amazing family can take much of the credit, they would be lost without the club.
Every year the club faces closure as it is run solely on donations and so this year I thought I would don my ill used trainers and hit the pavement (or canal in this case) to raise some much needed cash. I appreciate that compared to my (cough) fitter friends an 11 mile walk may seem a little meagre but this is where I remind you that you are giving to that smiling man in the picture.... not me!
So please, raid the back of the sofa for pennies and support an utterly wonderful cause. You won't regret it.
Thank you and lots of love to you all xxx
