Story

Friend of Hetty's Victoria Law has for the 3rd time been diagnosed with breast cancer. This is heartbreaking and devastating news for Victoria and her family. Victoria is full time kinship carer to her beautiful 8 year old granddaughter Lily who she also home educates. This latest diagnosis will mean that significant life, emotional, practical and physical changes are just around the corner.

Victoria has took the bold and brave decision to take ownership of her cancer and will try her best to encourage something good to come from it. Victoria has chosen to have her head shaved at Hetty's on the eve of her first chemotherapy appointment. Doing this in the secure and safe environment means she will be surrounded by people that love and care for her to increase her confidence to follow it through. Hetty's very own Carmel will be the she with the shears on the day.

Victoria hopes to empower other women to have the courage to also take control and tackle cancer head on.

Victoria has also chosen to donate monies raised to Hetty's.

My name is Craig Knowles and I'm the kinship support worker for Hetty's and I've known Victoria and the family for 6 years. I asked her the following 3 questions.

Q. Why are you doing this?

A. Because I feel it puts me in control. I'm not waiting for things to happen and I will set my own agenda thank you. I'm hoping to raise awareness to hopefully allow people to know that they can take control and also to encourage good things to come from it.

Q. Why Hetty's?

A. Because of the support I've had over the years. It has been simply phenomenal. I also feel comfortable with them, it just feels right.

Q. What will it mean to you if people support this?

A. It would be amazing, it would reinforce my decision to take control. It would obviously support me and increase my own determination to beat this again. It will increase and encourage more positive energy which I totally believe in. The power of positive energy is beautiful which will aid not only my recovery but hopefully that of others too.

We will be posting a video of the event and you can follow Victoria's progress right here. To support her on the day feel free to come to Hetty's 23 Woodhouse Rd Mansfield Ng18 2AF on 06/05/15 starting at 11am so be here before please.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and i hope you can help me.
