Story
I am a volunteering support worker for Amber and I see first hand how brilliant the project is and how well it works. On Friday 19th August I will be setting off with a group of 17 family and friends, to complete the National 3 peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in 24 hours, and it would be fantastic if people could spare a little money to help support the project..
The Amber Prject exists to help any young person (aged 14-25) in the Cardiff and surrounding areas who has experience of self harm.
The project offers help in a number different ways including counselling, Friday evening workshops, theatre workshops and informal support.
People can hurt themselves in all different sorts of ways and for all sorts of different reasons. For some people their self harm my involve pysically injuring or hurting themselves, for others it may be issues around food, while others may have issues in areas such as risk taking or lack of self care.
Self-harm is often a way of coping with emotional pain or communicating distress. Many people find it helpful to talk about their self-harm to someone who is non-judgemental and supportive.
The Amber project is there to offer support.
