On Saturday 31st May, Jonny, Monty, Ian, Aron, Derek & Tony will begin the 154.5km walk from Milngavie to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands to raise money for the Glasgow hospice that cared for Bernice in the weeks leading up to the 28th April 2013 when she lost her long fight against cancer.  Throughout her life, Bernice showed us all what a wonderful woman she was with her sense of humanity, her humour and her love and support for her friends, family, colleagues and even acquaintances.  But it was during the last few years of her life, she showed us all what being brave looks like when facing death.  

That being said, in her final few weeks it was the incredible Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice that helped her to live, in the broadest possible sense of the word.  We will always be grateful for the resource and support they provided to ensure her comfort and dignity and our own peace of mind were maintained.

The hospice relies entirely on funds raised externally.  We are looking to raise a total of £20,000 to pay for a team of sessional bereavement counsellors to support the families of those who lose a loved one under the hospice's care.  The sessional nature of the counselling will enable the team to target their response to the needs of the bereaved adult or child; and at a time and place of their choosing.  Over a period of weeks, months and sometimes longer, they will provide a secure and positive environment in which the bereaved person can talk, laugh and cry as they learn to live and enjoy life again despite their grief.
