Story
At the tragically young age of just 31, Gavin McKay sadly lost his fight with cancer in 2015. First and foremost a devoted family man, Gav lived for times with his wife and 3 young children.
Originally from his beloved Cornwall, Gav settled with his family in Eastbourne, Sussex where he worked as a police officer. Gav had the most fantastic sense of humour. Given that he was always the life and soul of any group made it even more shocking when his illness spread so quickly and he passed away.
A group of his friends and police colleagues will be walking a 40 mile section of the South Downs Way from Devils Dyke to Eastbourne non-stop through the day and night. Whilst giving us an opportunity to share our happy memories of Gav, we hope that the event will be both fun and challenging.
Those confirmed as taking part in the walk thus far:
Charlie Wright (plus dad), Phil Hogan, Ken Wells, Matt Cherryman, Patrick Pearce, Chris Buggins, Pete Hall, Tom Williamson, Nick Smith, Adam Rose and not forgetting those helping as part of the support team - Scott Gosling.
Come on colleagues - will your name be the next to be added!
We'd dearly love to raise a fantastic sum for the hospice which cared for Gav so wonderfully well in his final months. Please help us to support this very worthy cause. Thank you.
Gav, we all miss you so much.
