Story
On the 25th September 2016 i'm going to challenge myself and take part in a middle distance triathlon that takes place in the New Forest.
1.2 miles lake swimming - 55 mile bike ride - 13 mile run
Ive got 20 weeks left of training and would really appreciate your support in helping raise money for Asher. Asher and his parents are family friends and I would like to raise some money to help towards equipment and physio sessions.
About Asher
Asher was born 10 week early with 3 holes in his heart. He had multiple operations to correct this and bravely fought back to good health. However at 8 months old Asher was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a general term describing conditions that cause movement problems. Spastic cerebral palsy is where the muscles are stiff and rigid in one or more limbs in Ashers case quadriplegic means that all four limbs are affected. The underlying problem is damage to, or faulty development of part of the brain, In some cases there are also associated problems such as learning difficulties.
Now at nearly 4 years old Asher is a happy, smiley young boy who loves to engage with everyone around him however he is unable to walk, sit or feed himself properly. Asher has physio every day from his family and once a month from a Physio to try and alleviate some of the issues and to try and improve his motor function. This is the minimal amount that is required and Asher would benefit greatly from some intense physio sessions to try and bring on his development. As Asher is non-verbal there are many pieces of equipment that would help Asher to develop further and allow him to enjoy life to the full.
We are raising money for Asher through the The Anthony Knights Foundation we would love to provide him with everything that he needs but unfortunately these specialist treatments and equipment are very costly and we can only begin to give him whet he deserves with the generous help of others. The Anthony Knights Foundation will collect any money donated and use it to directly pay for any treatments or equipment that Asher requires.
