Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are a group of Dads from Westende School who are embarking on the tough challenge of climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours. Considering none of us are mountaineers and a only a few were even cub scouts (!) this is going to a big achievement for us all and we'd love your support. We'll be starting in Scotland at 5pm on Friday 3rd June and planning to finish in Snowdonia at 5pm the following day !
Our reason for putting ourselves through this, aside from a personal challenge, is to raise money for a charity we all feel strongly about. Ollie Young was in the same Under 6 football group as my son Finlay. He was a bright, sociable lad and a very capable footballer. Tragically a little over 4 years ago he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour after complaining of dizziness. After a short but brave fight he died a day before his 6th birthday. It's difficult to imagine what his family went through but to their immense credit they have set up a charitable foundation in his memory to fund research into the type of tumour Ollie was diagnosed with.
That charity is called the Ollie Young Foundation http://www.ollieyoungfoundation.org/index.html
The Ollie Young Foundation currently supports Brain Tumour Research's centre of excellence in Portsmouth by specifically funding paediatric glioblastoma brain tumour research.
By donating what you can you'll be directly helping fund this research and going some way to saving other future little football stars like Ollie :-)
