Story
“When Willie went into St
Michael's Hospice on Saturday 10th January, it was, for all of us, as if a
giant, warm, safe blanket had been wrapped round us. Suddenly, we had people
who could look after him and help him to feel safe and to cope with the
difficulties of his illness. For the rest of the family, we had a real home
from home. We could visit at any time and the staff happily coped with the
entire family descending en masse. Willie always had someone who loved him by
his side and we were all supported and cared for, too. At the end, we were
given plenty of time and space to say our goodbyes and were given the
help we needed to deal with the practicalities. We know that they are still
there to help us through their bereavement support work too.
We would love to raise £5000, which is £1000 for each day Willie was being
looked after by them. In that way, we can ensure more families get the love,
expertise, and support which made our last days with Willie so complete.
Thank you for your donation, which we know comes from the love you feel for
Willie and in acknowledgement of all the fun and joy he brought into your life.”
