It is estimated that around 870 people die each year in essex from causes directly attributable to the cold and poor living conditions. 90% of winter deaths are of people aged over 675 and this age group, of which there are some 250,000 in Essex, are particularly vulnerable during the winter months.

This appeal is part of a national campaign run by Community Foundations each year

Grants will be provided to voluntary and community organisations that are providing vital help and social activities to ensure that vulnerable and elderly people keep warm, safe and well throughout the Winter months.
